It
was with great pleasure that on 1 May 2010, I announced
the new Head of WATERSHED COLLEGE.
Due to the outgoing of the respected Headmaster
of Watershed College – Dr J Bradshaw, the Governing Body of the
College is seeking to appoint a new Head to build on the
current achievements of Dr J Bradshaw, and lead our School into
its exciting and challenging next chapter.
I
know everyone has been waiting anxiously to hear the good news.
The journey of recruiting the new Head has not been easy and has
been challenging. After a lengthily recruitment process without
mistake, the Board is confident that they have recruited the
right professional to lead Watershed into the new era.
On behalf of the Board, it is with my great pleasure to announce Mrs
Angela Charidza as the new Watershed College Head with effect
from 1 May 2010. She is no stranger to the College. She is going
to lift Watershed College to greater heights. With the blend of
experience from our teachers and the Board, we want Watershed to
be the preferred College.
We are a Team with different individuals with various backgrounds,
diverse personalities and divergent ideas.
A Team that constantly shines and performs exceptionally well
irrespective of team member changes. Each Team member, whether
academic or non-academic, affect the lives of Watershed
students. Indeed, we help them to shape their destinies.
We have the passion and commitment to make students’ progress
and prosper. All of us at Watershed are professionals capable of
building up individuals and the institution at a particularly
challenging time.
We are operating in a competitive environment, in which students and
their families are stressed by the demands of our needs,
similarly as Watershed College we will be stressed by the demand
to succeed.
We want to help our students prepare for the challenges of
globalization – it is not a metaphor, but a reality.
We need to provide them with the tools that will allow them to
be citizens of the world not just citizens of Zimbabwe.
We have heard the clarion call to improve our educational system, to
help prepare young people for new and daunting demands, and to
insure equity in education.
We have before us a long list of challenging tasks. Let us face
these challenges with a sense of exhilaration, knowing that we
are live in one of the greatest eras of human history. In
addition, let us celebrate the fact that ours is an era, which
is being shaped significantly by Watershed’s Board and Head of
School. Author and New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman once
said, “When I was growing up, my parents told me, ‘Finish your
dinner. People in China and India are starving.’ Today I tell my
daughters, ‘Finish your homework. People in India and China are
starving for your job."
Thank You
