Watershed College offers a variety of clubs. The focus
of cultural clubs is to develop the life skills of students and
meet their interests.
Here are just a few of the clubs offered on a
weekly basis:
Needy Needles
Needy Needles was born in May 2009. It is a club with a very
small membership. The members are expected to have a background
of sewing. The club’s objectives are to make clothes for the
local orphans from material obtained from well wishers.
In the cold season we were able to make a few sets of pyjamas and
fleece sweaters of various sizes to keep the little ones warm.
The fabric was donated by Mrs Bradshaw and Throttle Clothing
from Harare. Through the hard work of Samantha Nyamunda, one of
the members, the children benefited handsomely. Four sets of
pyjamas and six fleece sweaters were completed and handed over
to Mrs Bradshaw who plays a pivotal role in the life of the
orphans at the local orphanage.
In the third term a new member, Tatenda Dangeni saw the need to
exploit her sewing skills in supporting this worthy cause. This
time we were unlucky not to find any donations. From the Fashion
and Fabrics Department we decided to make use of left over bits
and pieces of fabric. We were able to produce skirts to fit
children between seven and ten years old. These are intended for
Christmas.
Generally the club has not expanded in the way I would have
loved to see. However, what makes me happy is that it has taken
off the ground. I wish to thank Samantha and Tatenda for their
commitment to the club. It has been such a pleasure working with
them. Winnet Chironga , Locadia Hwandi, Ebenezar Musakwa and
Ropafadzo Shirehwa were also members of the club and their
contribution is greatly appreciated. The Club plans to expand
and help more less privileged children in years to come.

Autocad
Autocad was founded by Mr Mupfiga with a membership of 7 students.
Its main objective was to bring students abreast with ever
changing technological advances in design and construction.
During the year some members stepped down because the software
used was a bit old, Autocad 2002.However, others soldiered on to
grasp the concepts together with new recruits .It is pleasing to
note that students could draw dimensions and render 2D and 3D
diagrams with ease. Tafadzwa Chitemamwise and Ricardo Chisoma’s
works were outstanding. These members were instrumental in
making the club a success..The leaders are currently making
frantic efforts to source the most recent Autocad software so
that members can use up to the minute Auto-cad technology. It is
the wish of the coordinator that every club member be an autocad
certificate holder before leaving Watershed College. In future
it is hoped that autocad be taken to be the integral part of
design and technology. 2009 was a splendid year for the autocad
club members.

Biodiversity
The inception of the Biodiversity Club was met with profound
enthusiasm from the students. It heralded a new beginning in the
study of flora and fauna. The students grabbed the opportunity
as it merged with their study of Biology concepts in class.
It gave them an insight into the vast research programmes that can
be effectively undertaken. It was unfortunate the club failed to
honour its obligation of visiting Botanical gardens and National
Parks, but this did not deter the zeal to see the club prosper.
In future the club hopes to equip the students with visual
reinforcements to the theory of Biodiversity. As the chairman of
the club it is my wish that the students will pursue careers in
Biodiversity, given its interest and relevance to current global
environmental issues.

Wilderness Adventure Club
If you love the outdoors, have an appreciation for
wildlife; plant and animal and are sensitive to the needs of
nature, its conservation and preservation for posterity then the
Wilderness Adventure Club is for you. We go game viewing,
camping, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, canoeing, caving -
whatever activities our members choose in the wild!
In
addition to midweek and weekend trips, we also have three bigger
trips each year-one per term (over summer and winter). If you
have little or no experience in any of the activities we do,
don't worry, we will teach you anything you are interested in
learning.
Elephant rides has become synonymous with W.A.C visits to Game
Parks. Pride Mugabe (form 2) in white is shown in this file
picture riding on one of the big five at Imire Game Park.

Ballroom Dancing Club
The club was
introduced at Watershed College by Mrs. Chitemere . She runs the
club with the help of Mr. Mukutirwa who is the coach. Mr.
Mukutirwa once participated in the National Ballroom
Championships during the 1990s. He is an expert when it comes to
ballroom dancing.
The ballroom dancing club has been developing faster than many
expected. This year, third term has seen new members becoming
part of the club after an impressive performance at a show which
was held end of second term. The dancers hosted a show in front
of the entire college and it entertained the students with the
Waltz and Chachacha dances.Kushinga Chizema and Michelle Duri
were among the crowd favourites. People were persuaded to join
the club after witnessing the incredible performance.Currently,
the members are learning the Quickstep and the Jive dances.
On the 10th October 2009, the dancers went to Belvedere Technical
Teachers College to watch the National Ballroom Championship.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and many were
inspired to take their ballroom dancing careers to greater
heights.
In future the club intends to visit other schools offering
ballroom dancing as a club. It is hoped that in 2011,the club
Members shall take part in the Bronze Championships that will be
held in Harare.
In conclusion, the club would like to thank Mrs. Chitemere and
Mr Mukutirwa for dedicating their time to the club. The club is
definitely on the road to success and it shall continue to
strive.

Driving
The thrust of the club is to equip
students with real life skills. Taking short cuts to obtain a
licence has cut short a number of lives. The Club operated with
a membership of 20 students per term. The thrust of the club is
to prepare the students for a provisional driver’s licence test.
For a student to be a member, one has to be at least 16 years
old. Club activities involved going through rules and
regulations in the Highway Code and standard tests. It was
gratifying to note that this year we had more girls than boys.
Girls were passionate about the club activities and performed
better on tests. Nyaradzo Kusano and Tafadzwa Makamure were a
cut above the rest. .Students preferred to register for V.I.D
tests in Harare than our local town, Marondera. In future ,we
would encourage students to write tests in Marondera , so that
we get accurate statistics of results.
