Watershed Youth Against Aids club was
formed in January 2008 by Mrs Chitemere. It was a club for Upper school
students and form fours only until lately when we realized the potential that
the rest of the school had, in bringing new ideas into the club.
Youth against aids as a club has brought many benefits within Watershed
College and the external parts of Watershed. Previously, we had been invited
to a marches in the campaign for Human Rights and Youth against Aids Clubs.
These processions were meant to create awareness. We as a club consider this
as a success because we gained recognition from other schools. We have held
seminars with schools such as Peterhouse and Marondera. We also have received
advisors from Youth Against Aids . All these have had an impact to the school
because people were willing to participate and help out when discussions about
teenagers and Aids were raised.
We are aspiring to have dramas concerning HIV-Aids and also ways to prevent
the virus. This surely would help the youth to abstain.
And are hoping that in the future we will have aids camps and other outreach
programmes that will enable us to meet with the rest of Zimbabwe and other
countries so as to share our views of helping in the fight against HIV and
Aids.
